Review Contest ~ Featured Review

Jaynie Ritchie wins this month's review contest with her review of The Persuader by Lee Child -- a book I really want to read! I'm sending Jaynie a copy of Eileen Dreyer's With A Vengence.

Jaynie writes, "Thank you so much for choosing my review. I can't wait to read With a Vengence. I'm sure you will love reading The Persuader, and all of Lee Child's Jack Reacher books. I love them.

"I am a stay-at-home mother of two and use reading to escape the days little dramas. I usually read crime and mystery novels with the odd suspense thrown in to get the blood pressure up. I live in Melbourne, Australia."

Here's her winning review ...

The Ghost of Hannah Mendes by Naomi Ragen

Date: 05/23/03
Book Title: Persuader
Author: Lee Child
Reviewed By: Jaynie Ritchie

It's Saturday night in Boston and Jack Reacher sees a dead man. This chance encounter with an old foe leads him down a dark path as he finds himself up against evil, and deep in trouble. The body count is high and the pace is fast, with surprise twists along the way. Reacher's past has come back to haunt him as old ghosts must be put to rest.

For Reacher, it's personal. There is no black and white, no right and wrong, only justice. Justice for the past that Reacher was powerless to prevent; and justice for the present where he hopes to make things right. Reacher finds himself trying to find an undercover DEA agent who is missing in action. Her mission is off the books and her only hope of survival is Reacher.

Persuader is Lee Child's seventh foray into the world of ex-military cop Jack Reacher. Child writes wonderful dialogue and breathtaking description. The first-person narrative brings Reacher closer to the reader and marks a return to the successful style that made Killing Floor such a hit. If you're a fan of Reacher, you won't be disappointed. If you're new to the game, prepare to get hooked.
